I am delighted to be included in "Vision," the inaugural show of this exciting new fine art center in Fort Collins. The exhibit includes two of my self portraits, both of which give the viewer a glimpse into my psyche. My history as a medical illustrator is evident in the realistic renderings of my subject matter, and no doubt all of my work is informed by that experience, but I also want to express my creative, less controlled side. A friend refers to this art style - the tension between depicting things realistically and letting my wild side play - as "Obsessive Expressive."
As artists we are constantly challenged to manifest our vision into something tangible for our audience to experience. I hope that those viewing my artwork will sense my fascination with the natural world and my reverence for the things I see and feel; I want to hearten others about the limitless capacity of the human spirit.
