These three paintings are a series from my trip to Italy in spring of 2015. Meditating on Italy's scenes of weather, color and light caused me to paint in the present (as opposed to merely copying photographs). I found I loved painting the shape-life found in Tuscany's landscapes. Patterns of cultivated and wild land side by side seemed both chaotic and arranged. Dark cypress trees cut vertically through soft horizontal sunsets and vineyards. Nuances and minute-by minute changes captivated my eye. In painting this series. I learned to be more aware of each motion-filled visual situation.
